Release: Midpage MCP Integration for Claude
You can now connect Midpage to Claude.
Claude and Midpage are now connected, unlocking seamless legal research and drafting workflows right inside Claude desktop or web. In short, this means you can give Claude access to a dataset of case law and a citator.
Our users have been asking for a Claude integration for months. More and more firms have been leaning heavily on general purpose AI tools. For instance, Quinn Emanuel indicated that they haven’t even had a need for a fancy specialized legal AI tool because frontier models are that capable.
With a simple MCP connection to Midpage, frontier models become even more capable. Our hope is that, beginning today, the Midpage MCP in Claude will allow these users to:
Answer simple and complex legal research questions
Generate first drafts of memos and briefs
Connect the facts that live within their Claude projects to case law
Review and cite check briefs (e.g., from opposing counsel)
Brainstorm legal strategies and red-team arguments
An Unfair Advantage
Claude can handle some legal queries by running web searches to collect sources. While this approach can yield decent answers, it is inherently limited because Claude’s internet searches will only uncover and be able to access to a fraction of the relevant case law. And the case law that it actually can find is often messy and outdated.
Anthropic recently released its official1 Claude/Legal plugin for Claude CoWork, but this solution appears to be for more transactional, in-house, and compliance teams than for legal research. Even with the plugin installed, Claude Legal still does not connect to a case law database or even purport to do legal research.
The Midpage MCP solves these problems. The MCP gives Claude the tools it needs to run complex search queries directly over our comprehensive, up-to-date dataset of case law. These tools are purpose-built for legal research, and the dataset is enriched with proprietary metadata like our AI-powered citator so you can ensure cases are still good law.
Requirements
Currently, to use the Midpage MCP in Claude, users must:
Have an active Midpage subscription
Have an active Claude Pro, Claude Team, or Claude Enterprise subscription
